The dispute between the Kinkiizi West County Member of Parliament, James Kaberuka, and the Kanungu Deputy Resident Commissioner, Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaaju, has deepened as they continue to attack each other.

In the latest attack, MP Kaberuka, while at a public function in Kihihi Town Council, accused Deputy RDC Rugaaju of tainting the office of the President and abusing the local leadership. He went ahead and called Rugaaju a lunatic.

“He is tainting the office; he goes somewhere and abuses the Bishop and anyone; who is he? The President is a person who has demonstrated humanity; he is the best, but how can he be represented by such a lunatic? I told my RDC that we are going to open war against the lunatics,” MP Kaberuka said in a video clip that went viral on various social media forums.

When contacted by Nexus Media to find out why he attacked the deputy RDC and referred to him as a lunatic, MP Kaberuaka neither denied nor accepted that he did. However, the MP agreed to comment on the above later.

According to a source in Kanungu district, trouble for Deputy RDC Rugaaju escalated following his attack on a section of local leaders whom he had accused of owning government programmes as if they were the ones funding them.

It is said that Rugaaju, while attending a funeral in the area, reportedly accused the leaders, including MP Kaberuka, of owning up certain programs brought by the government and taking credit at the individual level as if they were the ones who brought them.

Efforts to get comments from Rugaaju were futile since he didn’t pick up our calls on his known official telephone number.

This is the latest clash between the two local leaders, who once contested against each other during the 2016 general election.
