Designer Latif Madoi is set to hold Rasta Massive (Rasmas), an event designed to honor fallen and living social and political personalities in Uganda and worldwide.

It will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Reggae Embassy Uganda headquarters located in Jokolera village on Kiti road in Kawanda, Kasangati town council in Wakiso district.

This event is celebrated annually by Rastas on the 18th of October, since 2007, the day when South African reggae artist Phillip Lucky Dube was killed.

In an interview with a Nexus Media reporter, the event organiser, Leaf Latif Madoi, said that the event will run for three days and preparations are already underway.

Madoi said the event will be characterized with various activities and entertainment like a One Love Peace concert, several Ugandan artists will perform, a reggae fashion concert by Madoi himself, a student showcase, a bonfire, and much more.

“We have always celebrated this day, and this year, I am glad to announce that it will be massive and attract about 1,000 revelers with musicians like Jose Chameleone, Pallaso, Melody, Weasle, Zex Bilangi, and a band that will play Dube’s songs throughout the event.

“The event will kick off on Thursday, October 17th, with Kasiki; Friday, October 18th, will be the main Rasmas event, and Saturday, October 19th, will be closure,” Madoi said.

Rasmas is a Rastaman’s celebration of jubilation in combination with civilization and modernization. It is a liberation and a revolution event for the young generation to acquire education with positive and vibrant inspirations in society, with the dress code being freedom colors.
