Police Arrests 25-year-old Man in Bukedi for Defiling to Death an 18 Months baby

Police has in custody a 25-year-old man identified as Gerald Okongo for defiling to death an 18-months baby identified as Promise.

According to SCP Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, the irritating incidence happened in Bukedi South in Eastern Uganda.

“In Tororo, we have a suspect in custody called Okongo Gerald aged 25, a resident of Asinge B village for the aggravated defilement and murder of a one and half-year-old female juvenile identified as Promise,” Enanga said.

While speaking to journalists, at Naguru Police Headquarters in Kampala, Enanga revealed that the deceased was last seen playing with a two-year-old friend on June 30, 2023 at around midnight near a bar.

He added that the mother of the deceased identified as Grace Naziwa was suspected to be drinking in the neighborhood bar from where her child disappeared.

According to Enanga, police started an immediate hunt of the child until they landed on her body lying in a certain cassava plantation the following day on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at around 7:30 am in the morning.

“The serious hunt was put up and the body of Promise was found lying dead in the cassava plantation after we introduced the K-9 cop dog which also led to the arrest of the suspect,” he said.

Enanga revealed that when police reached the scene of crime, there was blood mixed with feces on the ground and her (Promise) private parts we torn with blood smeared all over the body.

“So we reached the scene and we got the body lying in the blood, feces and her private parts were torn behind recognition,” he said.

SCP Enanga condemned such unlawful acts confirming that the criminal will be charged according to the law to ensure that the parents of the deceased get justice.
