The Court of Appeal under the Ugandan judiciary is set to hold its first-ever upcountry civil Appeals and Applications session in Gulu City.
The sessions will be held from September 25 to 27, 2024, in Gulu City with a total of 22 civil appeals and applications.
The first-of-a-kind event will be presided over by Justices Fredrick Martin, Cheborion Barishaki, and Christopher Gashirabake.
According to the cause list, signed by the court’s registrar, Her Worship, Allen Owembabazi, the matters of land-related claims are the most prominent, with 16 cases.
Other matters to be addressed include trespass, setting aside High Court orders, damages, stay of execution, and contract disputes, among others.
The session marks the beginning of a series of upcountry hearings, with the Court of Appeal planning to hold a similar session in Mbarara next quarter.
