Mubarak Munyagwa, the former Member of Parliament for Kawempe South on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket, has called upon the National Unity Platform (NUP) members to get in touch with Dr. Kizza Besigye for proper deployment, saying that wherever he goes, he attracts a mammoth of Ugandan supporters.

According to Munyagwa, it is very important to remind the people about the history of opposition in Uganda. He noted that Robert Kyagulanyi is there, but Dr. Kizza Besigye is the center of mass and the founder of the struggle.

“The new opposition thinks the struggle began with them, and pride crowded their sense of comprehension, and six months after the elections they had faded out to nothingness,” Munyagwa said.

Munyagwa made these remarks while appearing on one of the local televisions to discuss “Dr. Besigye’s return to the political battle and what it means to the opposition” on Monday, April 8, 2024, in Kampala.

Munyagwa added that parties are vehicles that should be used to take over power, adding that Besigye is not out to restore the FDC but to do many things, and one of them is the head count of activities he is doing so well.

“Besigye is the founder of this struggle; this struggle was formed around the 1990s, and since that time he was the center of mass, he could not sit back and watch the struggle go down the drain,” Munyagwa said.

This follows Besigye’s return to active politics after a long political holiday, where he has said he is not going to contest in 2026 but will remove President Museveni before then.
