Colonel Michael Walaka Hyeroba, the contingent Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), under the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF), has cautioned troops against indiscipline and malpractice during operations.

While addressing the battalion commanders and staff officers on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, during the ongoing Barraza of the UPDF contingent group operating under the Regional Force in DRC, Col. Hyeroba reminded the soldiers of the significance of complying with the Code of Conduct and total discipline for peacekeepers.

He urged them to intensify and thoroughly check on the discipline of troops during routine activities as they interact with the civilian community.

“We must ensure that our discipline is sound so that the mission of EACRF doesn’t in any way violate humanity,” said Col. Hyeroba.

Col. Hyeroba warned that any Officer or men who go against the code of conduct will be severely punished for their actions according to the laws.

UPDF soldiers are currently in the DRC under the joint command of the East African Regional Force.
