Deepseek, a chinese startup company has developed a large language model which has significantly outperformed OpenAi’s ChatGPT topping the chart for free apps on Apple Store.
Deepseek launched on January 27, 2025 becomes the latest new, low cost artificial intelligence app that is bringing aggressive competition to ChatGPT and other AI apps.
The deepseek Artificial intelligence (AI) was created by a company that is one year and it’s said it costed $ 5.6million compared to Chatgpt which costed a whopping $ 100 million dollars, meaning people will easily access it compared to other AI tools in the market.
Because DeepSeek is from China, there’s discussion about how this affects the global tech race between China and the U.S. There are concerns about U.S. tech dominance, national security, and how U.S. export controls might not be as effective if China can develop such tech independently.

David Shrier the author of book “A human guide to artificial intelligence” noted that Deepseek AI is made in a way to become the top rated free application available on Apple’s App Store in the United States.
DeepSeek’s success has already been noticed all over the world , users of both AIs say deepseek excels in technical tasks with faster response times and lower costs while ChatGPT offers a range of features and creative capabilities
