Peruth Chemutai has set a new national record time of 8.48.03 in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the Wanda Diamond League Golden Gala in Rome.
Chemutai came second behind Yavi of Bahrain on Friday, August 30, 2024.
The Ugandan athlete broke the previous national record she had set of 8:53:34 during the 2024 Paris Olympics in July.
According to the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), Chemutai’s outstanding performance was inspiring, and it has made Uganda proud.
“Congratulations to Peruth Chemutai for setting a new national record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:48.03 at the Wanda Diamond League in Rome! Your outstanding performance is truly inspiring,” UAF posted on their official X account.
The 2024 Wanda Diamond League shall conclude with a two-day season finale in Brussels, Belgium, from September 13th–14th, 2024.
