Peter Anthony Morgan, commonly known as Peetah Morgan of the Morgan Heritage band, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the age of 46. Morgan’s family, which confirmed his death in a statement on the band’s social media platforms, however, did not provide the cause of his death.

He started the Morgan Heritage band with seven of his siblings in 1994, which later became a quintet.

Morgan was the lead singer of the reggae band Morgan Heritage, a Grammy Award-winning group that was formed by the children of the singer Denroy Morgan and came to be known for its varied influences and tight vocal harmonies.

Morgan Heritage is known for its songs like Tell Me How Come, I’m Coming Home, A Man Is Still a Man, Down By The River, She’s Still Loving Me, Don’t Haffi Dread, Selah, Wanna Be Loved, The Return, Girl Is Mine, Faithful, Inna Dem Ting Deh, and Perfect Love Song, among others.

Several Ugandan artists, like Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Eddie Kenzo, Bobi Wine, and others, have condoled with Morgan’s family on social media.

“Oh No!!!!!! @morganheritage @grampsmorgan. I love you my family!!!!!! PETER we love you so much!!! It’s so heartbreaking,” Chamelone wrote.

“The reggae world has been hit by the sudden demise of a legend, Peter Morgan. You will live on, as your life was written for reggae. RIP,” Bebe Cool stated.

“The Great is in Heaven,” Kenzo noted.

“It’s sad to learn about the sudden death of Peter Morgan, the lead singer of the Morgan Heritage band. Rest in paradise, Rasta. Jah know,” Bobi Wine wrote.

Peter Morgan was one of more than two dozen children of Denroy Morgan, a reggae star who was born in Jamaica and died in 2022. Reports have it that while their father was living in New York at the time, Peter Morgan and some of his siblings were educated in Springfield, Massachusetts, where their grandmother lived.
