Ugandan rapper Gravity Omutujju real names Gereson Wabuyi has retaliated against the Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga’s allegations of the vulgar nature of his music lyrics.

The ‘Okwepicha’ singer refuted PM Mayiga’s accusations, arguing that both Buganda kingdom-based radio CBS FM and BBS TV had never played his music ever since he broke into the music scene in 2011.

‘’That is your thinking,” Gravity said.

While appearing in a video circulating on social media on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Omutujju said that he was reporting to Mayiga that his music has never been played on any of the Buganda stations.

“I report to you that my music has never been played on CBS or BBS ever since the beginning of my music career in 2011. I do not know if you were already the Prime minister of the Buganda Kingdom in 2011,” Omutujju said.

The 31-year-old rapper stated that he does not sing vulgar music and has invested a lot in his music and sings for his fans the music that makes them happy.

“I am here to explain to you that I don’t sing vulgar music and will never. I sing my music with a lot of art and talent. It is my job to be artistic; I sing for people what makes them happy. I have never sung a vulgar song. Those who brought you those letters and told you what to speak are misleading you,” he said.

In response to the Gravity, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara, advised the singer to be mindful with his responses as he addressed a high-ranking citizen.

“My young brother, elders do not make mistakes. Be careful with responses,” Balaam said on X.

Alongside other artists, Lil Pazo, Gloria Bugie, Shakira Shakira, and Rita Dancehall, he faces an eminent ban and scrutiny over vulgar music content, a move the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) enforces to preserve Uganda’s cultural values.

Omutujju is known for songs like Okwepicha, Joanita, Embuzi Zakutude, Ampalana, Kappa Yo, Broken English , Bidagala, Ekyebeyi, Sipowa and many others.
