The protesters put forward several demands, including the resignation of the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among and the four backbench commissioners, a reduction in the number of Ugandan MPs, an audit into MPs' lifestyles, the resignation of any MPs involved in corruption scandals and a reduction in MPs' salaries and allowances to a maximum of Ugx 3 million.

The efforts of SHACU, CID, and ODPP reflect the government’s determination to combat corruption at all levels.

Following the intervention, the Police Flying Squad unit located Kakande at the Mpata Treading Center, resulting in his arrest and successfully recovering the child unharmed. Kakande is presently in custody at the Mukono Police Station.

A manhunt for the suspect is on, and once caught, she will be taken to court and charged with murder.

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) should not always use hard power in handling demonstrations because holding demonstrations is a constitutional prerogative.
