Cardi B became the latest star to be hit by the crowd during a concert, after a member from the audience threw a drink at the rapper.

The 30-year-old rapper fought back by throwing a microphone at the concert fan. The incident occurred during Cardi B’s scheduled performance at Drai’s Beach club on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Through a video posted on social media, Cardi B was performing her hit “Bodak Yellow” when someone holding a huge mug apparently flung the drink at her, dousing the rapper while she was on stage.

Cardi B first looked shocked, then immediately retaliated by throwing her microphone at the person. The video, which contains profanities, has more than six million views on TikTok.

Although the rapper no longer had a microphone, her voice was still heard on speakers during the performance which indicated that she had been lip syncing.

This is the latest example of performers having their shows interrupted by someone in the crowd by throwing something on stage.

Bebe Rexha shared images of her bruised eye in June 2023, after a concertgoer threw a phone at her during a performance at Pier 17 in Manhattan.

A 27-year-old Nicolas Malvagna of New Jersey, was later charged with two counts of assault in the third degree. One count of harassment in the second degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count of attempted assault in the third degree.

In November 2022, Harry Styles was also hit in the eye with a sweet at a gig, and Pink looked uncomfortable when a bag of human ashes was thrown on stage as she performed in London.

Last year, Cardi B admitted two offences arising from a brawl in a strip club, as part of the deal to avoid a trial and possible jail time.

“I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to,” she said.

Cardi B is best known for hits such as I Like It, Up, Bodak Yellow and WAP-a duet with Megan Thee Stallion.
