The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has slapped Kenya with a USD 50,000 fine for multiple safety and security violations during their CHAN PAMOJA 2024 match against Morocco at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

In its official statement, CAF argued that Kenya’s breach of security protocols posed serious risks to player and spectator safety. The Board warned that continued non-compliance could result in relocating future home matches for Kenya’s national team.

“Authorities must deploy adequate security personnel and strictly enforce road closures on match days,” the CAF Disciplinary Board stated.

However, despite this action, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) issued a public appeal on X (formerly Twitter), urging fans to attend matches responsibly.

“Crowd trouble is costing us dearly. Only attend Kasarani if you have a genuine ticket. Let’s protect the game we’ve worked hard to build.”

Kenya received a USD 50,000 fine for multiple safety and security breaches during their match against Morocco at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The Board warned that repeated violations could result in relocating Kenya’s national team matches and advised authorities to deploy sufficient security personnel and strictly enforce road closures on match days.

Morocco was sanctioned USD 5,000 for inappropriate player conduct during the match against Kenya, with half of the fine suspended on condition that no similar offence occurs for the remainder of CHAN 2024.

“Fair play and discipline on the field are non-negotiable standards for all participating teams,” the Board emphasized.

All fines, including Kenya’s, must be paid within 60 days.
