Bushenyi RDC Warns PDM SACCO Leaders Against Extortion; Tasks GISOs to Intervene

The Parish Development Model, PDM SACCO leaders in Bushenyi district have been warned against taking advantage of beneficiaries by extorting them.

Robert Atuhirwe, the Resident District Commissioner for Bushenyi, made the warning while launching the PDM data capture exercise for West Ankole on Monday, June 17th, 2024, during an event held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Bushenyi Municipal Council.

The West Ankole region is comprised of several districts, including Mitooma, Rubirizi, Bushenyi, Sheema, and Buhweju.

He tasked Gombolola Internal Security Officers, GISOs, to ensure strict monitoring of the program in a bid to reduce the vice and ensure that culprits are apprehended.

RDC Atuhirwe thanked the Office of the President for the timely intervention, adding that PDM is contained in the NRM manifesto of 2021–2026, which is now being implemented.

According to him, Bushenyi district has so far received a total of Shs8.9Bn, which have been distributed to 6,157 beneficiaries, with the disbursement rate at 99%.

He emphasized that through coordination among key stakeholders in the district, the program will achieve extraordinary results.

RDC Atuhirwe reiterated his commitment to seeing the PDM program succeed because it uplifts the people at the grassroots.
