A 20-year-old male senior four student who has just completed his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations at Mbulire Secondary School has been murdered in cold blood by unidentified coffee thugs in Bukomansimbi district.
This incident happened on November 18, 2024, in Bukomansimbi town, Bukomansimbi district.
Initial reports indicate that after sitting for his UCE papers, Joseph Kisekka, alias Bob (deceased), decided to stay with his elder brother in a rental house in Bukomansimbi town, and it is where he was killed with a hammer.
According to Kisekka’s neighbors, it is believed that the thugs had come to steal dry coffee (emwanyi enkalu), which the deceased and his brother did not have.
It’s alleged that because there was a motorcycle inside the house, they decided to severely attack him with a hammer to take the motorcycle and left him in a critical condition.
“We found the deceased lying in a lot of blood, and we rushed him to the hospital; however, he died as soon as we had reached due to the deep head injuries and loss of blood,’’ the neighbors revealed.

One of the locals identified as Eric Kisembu disclosed that this is the third student in 2024 to die under unidentified circumstances in Butenga sub-county, something that’s worrying.
Kisembu added that the first incident was that of a Primary Seven pupil of Butenga Church of Uganda Primary School who fell sick and died two days before sitting his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), and the second incident was that of a senior two student of St. Joseph Secondary School in Butenga who was murdered by unidentified thugs, and up to now her death is still being investigated.
’’We need police to investigate and arrest these culprits because the deceased was too young and had a bright future ahead of him,” he noted.

The deaths of these students have contributed to growing fears within the community regarding safety and security.
On September 6, 2024, police in Bukomansimbi arrested Cotilda Namuddu, a 75-year-old woman, as a suspect in the stabbing to death of her 16-year-old granddaughter, Immaculate Nanziri.
