ANTI-CORRUPTION UNIT: Bukedea Town Councillor Arraigned over Assault

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with Uganda Police have on Friday, July 7, 2023, arraigned Dan Malinga, a Bukedea Town Councillor, before the Magistrate Court of Bukedea over assault.

According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, he is accused of organizing and directing a bunch of thugs to attack and rob Steven Omagor, one of the candidates for the LCV Chairperson by-election.

“The assault occurred on June 6, 2023, when Mr. Omagor approached the Electoral Commission gate at Bukedea, to present himself for nomination as a candidate for the LCV Chairperson by-election,” Anti-Corruption unit said.

It is alleged that the assault was intended to prevent his nomination for the position.

This action follows a directive by His Excellency President Museveni to Brig Gen Henry Isoke, the Head of State House Anti-Corruption Unit, to investigate the criminal activities committed during the by-election.

Dan Malinga has been remanded until July 26, 2023.
