The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Buikwe district, Robert Mulondo, has recognized an increase in the number of people registering to become Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

According to the CAO, the increase was confirmed during the vetting and profiling exercise for the third phase of disbursement of the PDM funds in the district.

Mulondo attributed this to the success of the program and how it has driven beneficiaries to the money economy.

He said this while closing a PDM beneficiary data capture exercise in Buikwe district on June 17, 2024.

The CAO appreciated the involvement of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), saying that the application it developed to capture beneficiaries’ data will help in the implementation of PDM and ensure that it is a success.

He urged the Gombolola Internal Security Officers (GISOs), who will be manning the data capture exercise, to understand how the Zaidi app operates.

“Technology is good only if you collaborate with it. The GISOs should check and balance with the app so that the information gathered can be of help to the government,” Mulondo said.

Mulondo acknowledged that the app will solve most of the challenges that local government has been facing in implementing PDM.

“Challenges like not knowing who the beneficiary is, what they did with the money, or how much they got will be solved,” he added.

He revealed the issue of theft, saying that beneficiaries who have successfully put the PDM funds to use are being targeted by unemployed youth who want to reap where they did not sow.

On February 26, 2022, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni launched PDM at Kibuku grounds to improve service delivery and alleviate poverty at the grassroots level.
