The Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom, Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga, has openly rebuked a section of “disruptors and distractors” who caused commotion during the Kabaka’s recovery in Namibia.

Mayiga made the statements on Monday, July 22, 2024, shortly after the Kabaka’s return to Uganda from Namibia, during a presser at the Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Mengo shortly after the Kabaka’s return to Uganda.

He expressed his disappointment in a section of individuals spreading propaganda and causing commotion in the Kingdom during a time of the kabaka’s vulnerability.

“These disruptors and detractors instructed a handful of people to denegrate the Republic of Namibia and some of their missions abroad,” Mayiga said.

The Katikiro urged the people of Buganda to deal with these individuals before he sent out a heartfelt apology to the Namibian government for the inconvenience and embarrassment.

“On behalf of the kingdom of Buganda, I extend our sincere apologies to the government and people of Namibia for all the discomfort that the actions of these disruptors caused,” he noted.

Additionally, the prime minister showed his gratitude and appreciation towards a few members and well-wishers who were supportive during the time.

The king’s recuperation in Namibia was short-lived due to a spreading falsehood among his subjects purporting that he had been kidnapped.

These malicious claims forced the Namibian government to deny Kabaka a visa extension, prompting his return to Uganda.

On Monday, July 22, 2024, His Royal Majesty, Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II, returned home from Namibia, where he had been getting treatment for the last three months.
