A police officer attached to the Field Force Unit has shot dead a UPDF officer attached to the Ruhengyere Barracks under the 2nd Division,
According to SP Emmanuel Bwambale, the DPC CPS Mbarara , PC Opio Charles, at about 1800 hours shot dead one L/CPL Yeremiah Paper, attached Ruhengyere Engineering Brigade Kiruhura District,
The Yeremiah who was visiting a friend in Mbarara was having a drink with Opio when they started fighting over a certain lady. As the argument got heated, the Yeremiah called Opio “STUPID” and that is when he was shot.
According to Muhwezi Stephen, a resident of Mbarara City, after shooting the UPDF officer, Opio told people to clear the way as he surrendered himself to CPS Mbarara.
The police officer was a guard at Bank of Uganda, and as soon as he reached CPS, he shot one bullet before handing himself over.
