Bodies of Foreign Tourists Handed over to UK Forensic Experts-Police

Police have confirmed the handing over of bodies for the two British tourists who lost their lives in the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) Kasese attack to the UK forensic team.

According to SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson while speaking to journalists during a weekly security presser at the Police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday, November 6, 2023, they have been working with the forensic experts from the UK, adding that, the tourists’ bodies were transported to the UK for further Management.

“I want to inform the public that, the bodies of the two foreign tourists were handed over to the UK forensic experts. You remember very well the foreign tourists who were killed in Kasese. For all  this while, we’ve been working with the forensic and investigative experts from the UK and up to Wednesday, the 1st of this month, we managed to hand over the two bodies of the deceased foreign tourists which were repatriated to the UK for further management,” Enanga noted.

Enanga said that, they however, continue to mourn with the loved ones since it is painful for them to wait for all this while.

“Our hearts and thoughts continue to be with the loved ones. It is very painful for the families and relatives but we have to effectively coordinate and share our findings with the UK team,” Enanga stated.

Enanga revealed that, all the recordings and evidence including a full postmortem report was handed over to the UK team.

“All the legal formalities back here at home, the lines of inquiry and findings, the timelines of events aligned with GPS for evidence and other recordings were shared and availed to our counterparts and a full postmortem report was also handed over to the UK team,” Enanga reported.

He also assured all the Ugandan visitors of the very significant improvements in the security at all the tourism sites in the country.

He confirmed that, the investigative team in CID is coordinating with the UPDF to recover some of the exhibits which were found with the ADF report Commander who was arrested on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, to help in the investigations.

Police commended the UPDF Marines and CMI who are continuing to pursue the remaining remnants of the ADF group that attacked the foreign tourists, for working vigorously to bring to justice those behind the cowardly attacks.
