The opposition National Unity Platform Party leadership has asked local residents of Busoga region to rise up against the ruling National Resistance Movement government.
Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, the NUP party president who is currently touring the region on Monday, September 5, 2023, while in Mayuge district, accused the regime of neglecting the region and sidelining it to swim in poverty.
He asked locals to rally support for the opposition NUP party to take over the government in order for their region to be developed.
“People in Busoga can’t afford sugar when they grow sugarcane, and the price of sugarcane is so low that the out-growing growers can’t benefit,” said Kyagulanyi.
MP Derrick Nyeko of Makindye East in Kampala asked young people to rise against the NRM regime, accusing it of not addressing unemployment among youths.
Kyagulanyi will travel on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, to Busia, where he is expected to open the NUP office and hold a rally, among other activities.
