Bishop Raphael P’mony Wokorach of Nebbi Catholic Diocese, while animating the main mass at the Namugongo Catholic shrine during the Martyrs’ Day celebrations, has urged all pilgrims to be courageous and firm in their faith, stating that it’s what the martyrs died for.

Bishop Wokorach said that the martyrs did refuse to listen to the commands of Kabaka Mwanga, adding that they held their faith in God’s word, which led to their killing.

“While the rest were busy saying Yee Sebbo, the martyrs refused to take the commands of King Mwanga and continued going to church on Sundays. We should all be like the martyrs, beholding our faith in God,” he said.

The Bishop also thanked the government leaders for upholding the values and morals of the country and turned against the advances of homosexuals that would affect our children.

“We must continue saying no to same-sex marriages because the Bible says one man for one woman. Right now, we are facing the consequences of upholding our values and morals as a country, but Uganda will remain blessed,” he added.

The bishop ended the mass by advising the pilgrims to uphold their faith, stating that our walk to Namugongo may not be in vain.
