The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of Uganda has issued warnings about fraudulent social media accounts operating under the name “Uganda Digital.”
The notice was posted on their official X handle on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 .
According to the notice, accounts active on platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram falsely claim to offer investment opportunities promising automatic monthly returns of UGX 10 million.
The notice further stated that the fraudulent social media accounts use the image of NSSF Managing Director Patrick M. Ayota.
“In some instances, there has been an attempt to imitate his speech to make it appear genuine,” reads part of the notice.
NSSF has clearly stated that these accounts are not affiliated with the Fund and has urged the public to ignore them to avoid falling victim to scams.
However, the notice states that the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities for investigation and resolution, and also advises the public to report immediately to the nearest police station in case of direct contact.
On April 17, 2025, NSSF had previously alerted the public about similar fraudulent schemes, such as posts promoting a fake “National Wealth Platform” savings and investment scheme, which also falsely claimed association with the Fund.
