The Justice Forum (JEEMA), party President Asuman Basalirwa has written to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President, Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi asking to be granted the opportunity to mediate the ongoing internal conflicts between the two factions of FDC (Amuriat-Nandala or Najjanakumbi faction and Dr. Besigye-Ssemujju-Lukwago or Katonga faction).

In a letter dated July 26, 2023, Basalirwa, appreciated Amuriat for his great contribution to promoting an agenda for democratic change, rule of law, democracy and good governance in Uganda.

“In the premises I seek your indulgence to have this matter amicably resolved for the good of the struggle and away from public domain,” part of the letter read.

Basalirwa added that as forces seeking change, they have been keenly following the developments in FDC, that have culminated into unfortunate public exchanges among some of the top leaders in FDC party.

“As the political opposition in Uganda, the state of affairs concerns all of us because the stability of FDC represents the stability of the entire opposition, given your record in resisting the current undemocratic tendencies in our country,” Basalirwa said.

According to Basalirwa, as the enemy skillfully takes advantage of the situation, they risk demobilizing and demoralizing the supporters that have stood with them in all hooks, crannies, crosses and vexations for the last three decades of the NRM misrule.

“Am aware of the internal conflict resolution mechanisms embedded in our respective political organizations, but I seek to support them by making myself available to offer a meditative role to resolve the impasse, kindly accept,” Basalirwa requeted.

FDC top leadership has in recent times, exposed and accused each other for working with the ruling government NRM, and taking a Ugx 7billion bribe, which has left a lot of confusion in the party.
