The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has appointed Balaam Barugahare, Lilian Aber, and Phiona Nyamutoro as new cabinet ministers, respectively.
According to the cabinet list released by the President in a statement dated March 21, 2024, Barugahare, who was formerly the National Vice Chair of the Patriotic League Uganda (Western region), was appointed as the Minister of State for Gender, Labour, and Social Development (Youth and Children Affairs).
Hon. Aber was appointed Minister of State, Office of the Prime Minister (Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees), while Nyamutoro was appointed Minister of State for Energy and Minerals Development (Energy).
On the other hand, Hon. Agnes Nandutu, the former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, and Hon. Mary Goretti Kitutu, the Minister of Karamoja Affairs, were dropped for their involvement in the theft of iron sheets meant for the Karamoja sub-region.
They were replaced by Hon. Wamala Nambozo Florence and Hon. Peter Lokeris, respectively.
Hon. Vincent Ssempijja, the former Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, was appointed as a presidential advisor.
The majority of the ministers were reappointed by the president in the new cabinet.
