Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has set a new club record by winning 27 games in a season in 130 years, a record once held by the 2003-2004 invisible team, which went unbeaten with 26 wins and 12 draws.

Arsenal clinched their record after beating rival Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on May 12, 2024. Arsenal, who have yet to play their last game of the season, could extend their record to 28 games out of 38 of the season should they go ahead and win against Everton in their last game of the season.

After the game, Arteta was full of praise for the Arsenal team and staff for hitting the bar in 130 years in the Premier League.

“That’s 27 wins in the Premier League; it’s the most in the history of this football club in 130 years. That’s not progress; that’s history, and that’s very, very difficult to do, especially in the league that we are playing in now. So, a big compliment to all the players and the staff for what they’ve done,” Arteta said.

Arsenal, who are still hopeful of winning the league, wish that Manchester City loses its game in hand against Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday night, May 13, 2024, so that they stay a point ahead of Manchester City, with both teams remaining with one last game of the season to be played on May 19, 2024, and a win for Arsenal against Everton will give the Gunners their first Premier League trophy in 20 years.

A draw for Manchester City against Tottenham on Tuesday will see Arsenal and Manchester City be equal on points, and should both teams go ahead to win their last Premier League fixtures, the title could be decided by goal difference, with Manchester City having a slight advantage of two goals, which could swing either way depending on the goals scored by either team on the final day.
