The Most Reverend Folly Beach, the Archbishop of the Anglican church of North America has urged the pilgrims and leaders in various capacities to be united for God and love one another.

Archbishop Beach asked leaders to serve people in truth and avoid selfish acts that abuse their faith.

“God gives us leaders in the church for service to others, not for self service, as we see in verse 11 of Ephesians 4,” the Archbishop said.

The Archbishop of North America, while giving a sermon during a commemoration of the Martyrs at the Anglican Martyrs Site, Namugongo on Saturday, June 3, 2023, urged pilgrims and leaders to be united for service and growth in order to increase their faith and expand the church, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“In today’s message (Ephesians 4:11-16), we can know several things which can help us, as individuals, as churches and a nation to be united for service and growth in order to increase our faith, expand the church and gospel of Jesus Christ,” he said.

He added that church leaders are given assignments to prepare church members to the work for the Ministry.

“The pastors, apostles and teachers are given assignments to create church members to the work of the Ministry, for building up the body of Christ, so as we be unified. Fellow leaders, it’s not about us, it’s about them,” Archbishop Beach added.

His Grace Beach asked the pilgrims and leaders to be repentant people, adding that leaders should encourage people to repent but after they themselves repenting.

He noted that pilgrims and leaders, should not compromise in order to be united for serve and build their faith in God in order to become mature ant not succumb to crafty schemes of this world.

Archbishop Beach preached the message of reconciliation by reconciling with one another and be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. He condemned hypocrisy.

He said that many people are still struggling with the sin of unforgiveness, while other church leaders are preaching false teachings and following false doctrines and many destructive pleasures of the world.

The Archbishop also urged leaders to be leaders of people and live an exemplary selfless life by living a life of service and sacrifice than living selfish lives, siting an example of Late Archbishop Janan Luwum who was murdered by Idi Amin for faith in Jesus Christ, in the year 1977.

The prayer service was attended by the clergy from across the country, politicians among them was Minister Ruth Nankabirwa for the Energy ministry, who also was the chief guest representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Affairs, and the opposition politicians, among them being the leader of UPC, Jimmy Akena, MP Nandala Mafabi of FDC, among others. Archbishop of Church of Uganda, the Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu was the main celebrant. This year’s theme that guided Martyrs day at the Anglican Martyrs Site was “United For Sustainable Service And Growth.”
