The State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs (MoJCA) in Uganda, Sam Tusubira, has been arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on 16 counts of corruption.
This was confirmed by the Anti-Corruption Unit on August 13, 2024, in a media release.
According to the corruption unit, Tusubira solicited a bribe of UGX 100 million from a plaintiff who had filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Lands and the Attorney General for the alleged irregular cancellation of his land title.
”However, in exchange for the bribe, Tusubira promised to assist the plaintiff in obtaining compensation for the cancelled land title,” the Anti-Corruption Unit said.
They added that at the time of his arrest, he had already received approximately UGX 43 million from the victim.
Tusubira has been remanded and is set to appear in court on August 19, 2024.
This legal action was initiated by the Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
