The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has urged Ugandans spearheading the Uganda Parliament Exhibition to keep up with the activism of exposing corruption in any way they can.

While speaking to members of the press on March 13th, 2024, at their party offices in Bukoto Kampala, the party spokesperson and former Member of Parliament for Ntungamo Municipality, Gerald Karuhanga, applauded Ugandans for coming out to expose corruption in parliament.

He noted that Ugandans are disappointed in the way parliamentarians have misused their positions.

“ANT commends the creators of the Parliament Exhibition, and like many Ugandans, the Alliance for National Transformation is deeply appalled and disappointed by the revelations of severe mismanagement, corruption, and abuse of office by the parliamentarians, brought to light by citizens on social media X run under the hashtag UgandaParlimentExhibtion,” Karuhanga said.

The former legislator also called for investigations into the allegations of mismanagement of public funds in parliament.

“Our party firmly stands against corruption, mismanagement, and policies that compromise the advancement of Ugandans, thus calling for comprehensive forensic and value-for-money audits on expenditures by both parliament and executive,” Karuhanga added.

The Uganda Parliament Exhibition was started by Dr. Spire Jimmy Ssentongo, a cartoonist; Atuhaire Agatha, a former employee of Parliament, Toko Godwin, a lawyer and activist; and Kakwenza Rukirabasaija, a human rights activist and writer.

The Uganda Parliament Exhibition has exposed the extravagant expenditures of the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, and an illegal grant of UGX500 million given to the former Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, who has been asked to step down as the Commissioner of Parliament by the National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi.
