The revolutionary leaders from the Ankole region have rallied the youths to emulate the works of great leaders who brought in peace, security, unity and national prosperity.

The former Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura, the youth should involve themselves in productive activities other than just waiting for jobs to bring development to the country.

He made these remarks during a get-together meeting (EKITARAMO) held at Igonga Hotel in Mbarara district on January 19, 2025.

“In order to be productive and useful citizens, stop prejudice and change the status quo for the betterment,” Kayihura said.

He encouraged the youths to change their ways of thinking in a positive way, and that is why most of the leaders prospered because of thinking broadly and knowing what to do, attributing their presence to the National Resistance Movement regime.

Colonel Katabazi, the Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), also asked the youths to change their ways of thinking, the way of doing things, and welcome development.

Col Katabazi advised the youths to stop sectarianism, which undermines a country like Uganda with good revolutionary leaders who have fought for unity and national prosperity.

“The NRM government has played a great role in the revolutionary struggle for unity, and as leaders, it is a matter of thinking positively; undermining jobs cannot bring prosperity,” Col Katabazi said.

He advised the youths to always value education  and stop being dependent because some of the leaders started working hard at their early age and it is a matter of thinking hard and knowing what to do.

In the related development, Maj Gen Paul Muwagenzi testified that before the National Resistance Movement, there was insecurity in our country, like wars in the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in Northern Uganda, the Karamoja region, and the ADF in the Rwenzori region, though a few could notice the peace the NRM government has played to stop these wars.

Muwagenzi mentioned that the 39 years of the NRM regime have brought relative peace, so their roles should be followed.

The event attracted many delegates under the theme, The role of the youths in the revolutionary struggle for unity, security, peace, and national prosperity, attended by many dignitaries, including the former inspector general of police, Kale Kayihura; Col Emmy Katabazi, the deputy Director General, Internal Security Organization (ISO); 2nd Division commander Maj Gen Paul Muwagenzi; Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi Minister of security, Hon. Mwine Mpaka, member of Parliament, Mbarara South, among others.
