The Forum for Democratic Change President, Engineer Patrick Amuriat Oboi, has asked the FDC Katonga faction to stop using FDC party symbols or else face court action.

While speaking to the media at the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on April 15, 2024, Amuriat said that they followed up on the Besigye consultations and had warned the Katonga members against using party symbols since they no longer believed in the party leadership at Najjanankumbi.

“Since I announced court action, I have seen the Katonga faction reduce the use of our party symbols, and I should commend them for that, but should they insist on using our symbols, then we have avenues for action,” he said.

When asked if they were willing to challenge the Katonga group in court if they went ahead with using party colors and other symbols, Amuriat said that the court option still remains.

“The court option still stands, and we shall not hesitate to take on anybody who misuses our colors, motto, slogan, flags, and other symbols. We are also going to challenge the Electoral Commission and ask the Katonga faction to respect the symbols of a registered political party,” Amuriat added.

Dr. Kizza Besigye had a western region tour last week as he carried out consultations, which many say were to inform the Katonga faction whether to register their own political party ahead of the 2026 elections or to reconcile with the party leaders in Najjanankumbi, which to many later seemed like a long shot.
