Uganda’s Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E Brig.Gen. Ronnie Balya has reaffirmed the region’s commitment to put to an end the conflict in Sudan.

While delivering his briefing to the evacuees on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Ugandan Embassy in Juba who were ready for repatriation.

Ambassador Balya urged the team to remain firm, adding that, regional efforts are being put forward to end the conflict in the war zone in Khartoum-Sudan.

“I would like to assure you that the region is working hard to end the conflict in Sudan,” Ambassador said.

“I welcome you all from the war zone in Khartoum-Sudan. I urge you to be firm because we will overcome the challenges you are facing,” he said.

The Ambassador urged the team to preach a message of peace, harmony, security and prosperity in Uganda.

“I urge you, wherever you are going in Uganda to preach harmony, peace, security and prosperity,” he noted.

He asked the team to avoid the kind of violence witnessed in Khartoum Sudan.
Brig. Gen. Balya also thanked the International Organisation for Migration(IOM) for the good cooperation with the Uganda Embassy in Juba.

According to Ambassador Balya, the Uganda Embassy in Juba looked after the repatriated for four days before it dispatched them to Uganda using Uganda Airlines Airbus.

On Friday, over 50 Ugandans were repatriated from Sudan to Uganda. This follow the high conflict that resulted into war.
