Amama Mbabazi Trashes Stroke Rumor

The Former Prime Minister, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has slammed news circulating on different media platforms claiming that he suffered a stroke.

This is after several videos of him appearing to be in so much pain and moving on clutches went viral on social media.

However, according to Mbabazi, the recent videos that were being circulated on various media platforms showing him being supported and having difficulties walking were taken immediately after the back treatment was carried out.

He said in a tweet on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, that he had back issues and went for treatment in London.

“To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for the sympathy and love. It is not true that I got a stroke. I had back ailment which was fixed and I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work. Thanks,” said the former Prime minister.

Some media channels have publicly expressed regret for their prior reports on the former premier’s health.

One of the media channels issued a statement saying, “Our sincere apologies to former PM Amama Mbabazi for our earlier tweet that he had suffered a stroke.”

Mbabazi has also stated that he is improving and carrying out his responsibilities thoroughly.

“I have covered a long way on my journey to full recovery. Thank you for your prayers,” said Mbabazi.

Renowned lawyer Hussein Kashillingi and a close friend, who paid a visit to the former premier at his hotel where he is recovering in London, said that Mbabazi is positive and already having meetings.

“It was a pleasure meeting with the Rt. Hon. @AmamaMbabazi at his hotel in London. He is upbeat and already having meetings.We thank God for restoring his health,” Kashillingi tweeted.

Information from family sources reveals that  Amama Mbabazi was first admitted at Nakasero Hospital and later transferred to London for a back treatment, but he never suffered a stroke as claimed on social media.
