Google for Startups Growth Academy has picked five startups from different East African counties to help the health care sector with artificial intelligence.

The five African startups, including Rwanda’s Eden Care, Kenya’s IZola Limited, Nigeria’s mDoc, Nigeria’s Pharmarun, and Kenya’s Zuri Health, have been chosen to lead the way for AI health in the region.

Google for Startups Growth Academy helps founders and marketing leaders from high-potential start-ups grow their user base, scale, and go global with Google products, best practices, and connections.

Yuval Passov, Head of Google for Start-up and lead of the programme, said as they work to bring their innovative solutions to a wider audience, we hope to be there to lend a helping hand.

“These start-ups stand as proof of the continent’s ability to develop global health solutions,’’ Passov said.

Start-ups all over the world are using artificial intelligence (AI) as a game-changing tool to address important issues like early disease detection and information accessibility.

Their discoveries not only benefit billions of people but also fuel substantial economic expansion.
Since launching its Start-up Accelerator programmes in 17 African nations in 2018, Google has sponsored 106 companies, which have collectively generated over $263 million in funding and produced over 2,800 new jobs in the region.
