The English singer and songwriter who was the lead singer and co-founder of the British reggae band UB40, Alistar Ian Campbell, commonly known as Ali Campbell, will finally perform in Uganda at the Kololo Independence Grounds on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in a highly anticipated concert dubbed “Nobody Can Stop Reggae,” following a confirmation from the organisers.

The organisers made the official announcement and rescheduled the date, which was postponed from its original date of December 21, 2023.

The organisers said that the cancellation of the concert was due to an abrupt event that was set for Wednesday, December 20, 2023, with the Head of State, which coincided with the planned sound checks and setup. The venue was therefore experiencing a unique challenge as over 1,000 cars were parked for inspection in preparation for the NAM and G77+China summits.

The resolution meeting that was held recently was instrumental in bringing all parties involved together and ensuring an agreement that satisfied everyone’s interests. This will be the second time for the 64-year-old singer to perform in Uganda after appearing on stage at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala with his band members in 2008.

The fans who had previously purchased the tickets for the December concert were assured by the organisers that their tickets remain valid for the rescheduled date.

In 2023, Ali Campbell visited and performed in countries like the UK, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Greece, Spain, and the USA. He also performed in Hawaii on January 21, 2024. He is now expected to perform songs like Red Red Wine, Falling in Love with You, Come Back Darling, Moonlight Lover, Where Did I Go Wrong, Don’t Break My Heart, and Cherry Oh Baby, among others.
