NPA Holds 13th National Development Policy Forum on NEETs

The National Planning Authority (NPA), has held the 13th Public National Development Policy Forum and launched the youth Neither in Employment nor Education or Training (NEETs), to emphasis the need to facilitate all youth to get absorbed in the job market.

The launch was presented by Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the Executive Director of NPA at Kampala Serena Hotel on October 3, 2023.

Muvawala noted that, Uganda’s youthful population implies that, the country is blessed with potential for an abundant and cheap labor force.

“This can drive the envisaged growth and towards Uganda Vision 2040 aspirations,” Muvawala said.

Amos Lugoloobi, the Minister of State for Planning and Economic Development, also the chief host at the launch said that, Uganda’s vision emphasizes the need to facilitate all the youth to get absorbed into the job market.

“This will support efforts to reinforce other population policies,” Lugoloobi said.

Prof. Sam Obwoya Kinyera, the Deputy Chairperson of NPA, doubling as a Co-host of the launch noted that, Uganda vision 2040 aspirations can only be achieved with a skilled and productive population.

“A transformed Ugandan Society from a peasant to modern and prosperous county within 30 years, can be attained with a skilled and productive population,” Kinyera noted.

The National Vision is A transformed Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern and prosperous country within 30 years. This involves changing from a predominantly low income to a competitive upper middle income country within 30 years.
