The government is mooting a plan to build stadiums in every zone within the country and a bigger one at the regional level.

This was announced by Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for Information, Communications Technology, and National Guidance, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, during a press briefing held at the Uganda Media Centre (UMC) in Kampala.

According to Baryomunsi, the decision stemmed from the policy on national physical education and sports presented by the Minister of Education and Sports through First Lady Jane Museveni.

“We did consider this policy, and we passed it. This policy aims at developing and streamlining the framework for the initiation, development, and promotion of sports in the country,” Baryomunsi said.

He adds that it will strengthen and promote the practice and delivery of quality community sports across the country and also streamline, strengthen, and promote sustainable delivery of physical education and sports in schools and other institutions.

This was adopted during the recent cabinet sitting held at State House Entebbe.
