The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), in conjunction with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), has arrested and charged David Mpuuga, the Chairperson of the Rakai District Service Commission, on three counts of corruption.

In a statement released by SHACU on October 7, 2024, Mpuuga solicited and received UGX 20 million from one of the applicants to secure him a job as an agricultural officer in Rakai district.

“The accused was arrested following a public outcry to the RDC Rakai of him consistently asking for bribes on each vacancy available,” the statement read in part.
