Uganda Rugby Cranes and Lady Cranes celebrate the first-ever gold medal in Rugby 7s

The Uganda Rugby Cranes and Lady Cranes have won the first-ever gold medal in Rugby 7s at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

The Rugby Cranes defeated neighboring Kenya 21:14 and the Lady Cranes defeated Madagascar 29:00 in their last games on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium.

Both teams won the championship unbeaten.

The Rugby Crane competed in six matches, including Zimbabwe 14:00, Tunisia 50:00, Burkina Faso 24-14, Ghana 22:05, Benin 56:00, and Kenya 21:14.

The Lady Cranes played four matches, winning them all against Tunisia 37:07, Ghana 50:07, Nigeria 33:12, and Madagascar 29:00.

Uganda has won 15 medals in total, four of which are gold (rugby, badminton, and cycling).

Uganda also secured five silver medals (weightlifting, 800m, and 3000m steeplechase) and six bronzes (swimming, weightlifting, javelin, and football).
