Police Intercepts 17 Suspected Robbers Hiding in a Bar

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango has confirmed the arrest of 17 suspected robbers who have been hiding from authorities in a bar.

“Following an intelligence led operation at about 1000 hours of June 19, 2023, information was received about suspected robbers hiding in Nabukenya’s bar/residences located in Budonian village, Mengo, Central Kampala. The same group had a fight using a panga due to sharing of exhibits (loot) that was robbed in the night of 18th/06/23,” Onyango said.

He added that a joint team responded to the scene and arrested 17 suspects with house break-in implements.

Onyango revealed that Police recovered a hammer, panga and a locally made padlock opener, and found some suspects with fresh wounds that were as a result of their fight after failing to share the loot.

The arrested include; Abdul Sselukambo, John Nkurunziza Hakisam Mukwaya, Ronald Kalema, Tonny Ssegujja, Isaac Kakooza, Abdul Sselukambo, Eric Nandala and Abdallah Makoomu.

The suspects were jointly screened in the presence of local council leaders and eight were charged of being in possession of house break-in implements.
