The Director of the India National Forensic Sciences University—Uganda Campus, Air Commodore Kedar Thaakar, has commended the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for his commitment to fostering the relationship between Uganda and India.

Thaakar made the remarks on June 21, 2024, while officiating at the celebration of International Yoga Day at the National Forensic Sciences University (India) Uganda Campus at Gaddafi Barracks in Jinja district.

“We thank the President of Uganda for his good relationship with the government of India, which accepted the idea of starting up a National Forensic Sciences University Uganda campus,” Thaakar said.

According to Thaakar, the campus aspires to achieve its objective of instilling a forensic culture and promoting knowledge and expertise in using forensic techniques and technologies amongst the police, defence forces, judiciary, prosecutors, other security agencies, and associated departments.

“The university is not only for security personnel but equally accommodates all students, not limited to Uganda but from all over the world,” Thaakar added.

Brig Gen Peter Geatano Omola, the Commandant of the Uganda Rapid Deployment Centre, lauded the governments of Uganda and India for the good cordial relationship that has helped Uganda to continue fostering development.

“I encourage people to get involved in yoga activities, as it’s not only a physical exercise but also a mental relief and food for the soul,” Omola said.

The event was attended by officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, militants, and staff of the National Forensic Sciences University (India) Uganda campus.
